A healthy nine to five with customer service advisor at LHF Healthplan
Passionate about making the people of Yorkshire feel better, Lynn Adkin celebrates a decade of service at Leeds-based healthcare provider, LHF Healthplan this month. We caught up with her to find out a little more about her day.
Part of LHF's 20-strong knowledgeable and friendly customer service team, Lynn's job is to advise existing members and those who look to take out a plan on the many and varied benefits a healthplan offers.
Not just healthy at work, Lynn practises what she preaches with stretches and a hearty breakfast to kick start her morning. Lynn's day is always busy with the phones ringing from 9am: "All of the calls that come in are varied, some relate to payment and customer queries, through to the different benefits and payment process - people are often surprised at how quickly they get their money back once they have put in a claim.
Lynne comments: "With the launch of the new dental product we've had lots of interest from families looking to further extend their healthcare policy."
She continues: "Not many people can say they love coming to work. Working at LHF is like spending time with all of your friends and family, we all help each other out and work as one big team."
Lynn is certainly qualified to give advice about the different benefits available on the LHF healthplans: "Working here for 10 years I know the plans inside out and have taken advantage of a number of treatments that are available. I always make sure I have regular eye and dental checks and have been to see the physiotherapist on a number of occasions."
5pm signals the end of Lynn's day when she packs up her bag and heads home, leaving the night shift to answer the phones.
Through working at LHF Lynn has also become a member of the charitable trust committee. LHF makes regular charitable donations and Lynn forms part of the team who are responsible for making the all important decisions: "My work with the charitable committee is one of the most enjoyable parts of my job, we get so many request letters it's certainly not an easy task. Most recently we have been involved in donating to the Yorkshire Ambulance Service. It's great to know that we are helping so many people who are less fortunate than ourselves."
Lynn loves travelling and it would be her dream to live in Spain with her husband of 30 years, Douglas, when she retires.
